
WHERE DO YOU DEPART FROM?
- We depart from Castlebay Marina at 10am, at the latest.
- We ask everyone to be there 15 minutes prior to departure for a safety briefing.
I AM IN THE UISTS, CAN I MAKE YOUR TRIP?
- Our trips depart Castlebay Marina at 10am, you can catch the ferry from Eriskay in the morning and hop on the bus to Castlebay, this will allow enough time for you to join us. The same is possible after the trip, with the bus departing Castlebay around 16:20 and then connecting with the return Ferry.
HOW LONG IS THE TRIP?
- The run down to Mingulay is approximately 40 minutes depending on the weather and sea state.
- You'll have approximately 3-3.5 ashore.
- The return journey takes a little longer as we will try and return via the west side of the Islands if the weather allows. Arriving in Castlebay at approx 4pm. please plan for this accordingly we are not responsible for any missed ferry connections etc.
WILL THE JOURNEY BE WET ON THE BOAT?
- We can't guarantee it will be dry outside, but there is comfortable seating for everyone inside the wheelhouse, so you'll be kept warm and dry for arrival.
ARE ANIMALS ALLOWED ON YOUR TRIPS?
- Unfortunately no animals are permitted permitted on our trips.
- There are people on the island that will dog sit. Contact visitor information for more information (01871 817948).
ARE THERE ANY AGE RESTRICTIONS TO GO ON THE TRIP?
- We don't advise taking chilrden under the age of 5 years old, this is mainly due to the complexity of the landing.
- We do not have a maximum age but there is a certain level of fitness and agility required to join this trip.
- Getting ashore on Mingulay requires transferring into a tender where you will be taken to the shoreline, passengers must then step onto the rocks (which at times can be slippy) followed by a short climb on a steep incline to the grassy path. Please take this into consideration before booking.
AM I ALLOWED TO STAY ONBOARD IF I DON;T WANT TO GO ASHORE?
- Yes of course, if you just wish to stay aboard and watch the wildlife with the crew, you are more than welcome.
WHAT IS THE PRICE OF THE TRIP AND WHEN HOW DO I PAY?
- The price per seat for a day trip to Mingulay is £70. Payment is made after your return from the trip, either by cash or card, there are no discounts for concessions.
WHAT SHOULD I TAKE WITH ME?
- Weatherproof Jacket (Its easier to take it off, than put it on if you haven't got it)
- Adequate footwear for climbing the rocky shoreline.
- Packed lunch, water, snacks
- Camera with additional batteries.
- Binoculars.
- Sun protection, the weather can change quickly in the Hebrides.
I WOULD LIKE TO GO SOMEWHERE DIFFERENT, IS THIS POSSIBLE?
- We can cater for most destinations, please contact with your requirements and we can have a look at options for you.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE TRIP IS CANCELLED?
- We will contact you as soon as possible and offer you an alternative tour date and time if available.
WHAT REASONS WOULD WARRANT A TRIP BEING CANCELLED?
- Bad weather or sea state, making the trip unsafe.
- Minimum number of passenger required for the trip to go ahead not reached (Minimum of 8)
- Circumstances beyond our control i.e crew Illness or Vessel Breakdown.
WHAT IF I CAN;T MAKE THE TRIP?
- Using the confirmation email for you booking, you can login to your booking and adjust the date of your trip for another day or cancel it altogether.
- Call or email us and we will cancel or change your booking for you.
- That's it no costs, we do however ask that if you are going to cancel you give us as much notice as possible.
